1. Introduction
===============================
Thank you for subscribing to my ezine. We're all working to
improve our relationships with our mothers and daughters and
the other important women in our families.
I've found strength and direction when I remember lessons
and stories from my mother and from reading your stories.
I hope you enjoy them.
===============================
2. What's your story?
===============================
One of the most frequent comments I hear from you is:
"I didn't know there were so many other women who felt the
same way I do." Or "I didn't know there were so many other
women who have the same problem as I have."
It's more apparent every day that none of us know the extent
of problems between mothers and daughters. We can see
feminine products advertised on TV but its still taboo to
admit that there's a problem with your mother or your
daughter. This is why I want you to share your story.
If you've got a lesson you learned from your mother or an
inspirational story of a situation you've worked through or
whatever comes to your mind, write it down in an email to
stories@thelillypond.com
Just knowing that you cared enough to write your story will
help others take the time to write. And YOU DON'T KNOW whom
your story will touch. So, write me your story, ladies.
At the end of your story, be sure to write:
++ Your first name, last name, city and state. (This is for
our files.)
++ Whether you want me to use your first name, initials or no
name at all. (This is for publication. In any event, I will not
publish your last name.)
++ Whether you want me to use your state or no location at all.
(This is also for publication. In any event, I will not publish
your city.)
++ Please say clearly: either YES, THE LILLYPOND HAS
PERMISSION TO PUBLISH your story or question, or FOR
LILLIAN'S EYES ONLY AND NOT FOR PUBLICATION. I treasure your
confidence and respect your privacy above all.
Just send your story by email to stories@thelillypond.com
I'm waiting to hear from you!
Note from the Legal Pad
If you do grant permission to publish your story, you would
also be granting me the right to make very minor edits for
spelling, grammar and readability; to make minor edits to
preserve your anonymity; and to use your letter in other
publications and books.

Hi Lillian!
I had no trouble with my mother and I don't think I have
trouble with my daughter so I probably don't belong here -
ha! I loved your story of your mother and the clean
underwear. If I wrote our story, it would sound maudlin,
I am afraid. But here is just a bit.
My mother never reprimanded me and was always so glad to see
me when I woke each morning. In the winter I would come from
a cold bedroom into the hall, then open the door to the
kitchen and she would grab me up and hug me while I warmed
up by the stove.
When I had whooping cough as a child, I was not allowed to
go to school for 6 weeks. We were just learning our
multiplication tables. I was not supposed to read as it
might hurt my eyesight, so she put the numbers on the closet
door using huge writing so I could see them.
I could go on and on, but that is enough for now. I lost her
when she had a massive stroke in November, 1970; although
she did not die until August of 1973. The doctors said that
she didn't know anything, but I believe she did, so I
visited her every day.
I've just returned from a trip and I have lots to do to
catch up on chores. I haven't read all of my e-mail and I
still have two e-zines to enjoy yet!
Best wishes,
Yvonne in Texas

Dear Lillian:
I stumbled across your website the other day and enjoyed it
so much. I thought I would send you a poem I wrote to my
daughter Heather 7 years ago when she moved into her own
apartment.
When we first met you were a baby,
a tiny bundle of joy.
I blinked and turned around
and you were running after your toy.
When I glanced up you were ready for school
my little girl dressed in ribbons and bows.
When I looked again you were in high school;
how it happened God only knows.
I turned my head and there you were
on the stage in a graduation gown.
I looked over my shoulder as you said "Hey mom"
and felt my smile turn into a frown.
"Hey mom, I'm ready to move out.
so please be happy for me.
I can't wait to be out on my own.
I'll be fine, just wait and see."
I always knew if I did my job too well
this phase of our life would end.
But in its place I have something much better....
I've raised my very best friend!
Thanks for reading this,
Sincerely,
Janice Kathleen in Ohio
