1. Introduction
===============================
Thank you for subscribing to my ezine. We're all working to
improve our relationships with our mothers and daughters and
the other important women in our families.
I've found strength and direction when I remember lessons
and stories from my mother and from reading your stories. I
hope you enjoy them.

Reindeer Water
When my nephew, Andrew, was about18 months old, my brother
and his wife left him with Mom to baby-sit while we went
out. She loved keeping the grandkids and was excited to have
Andrew for the evening. They played and had a good time.
When it was time to go to bed, Andrew decided to play "who's
the boss."
Unfortunately, he picked the wrong babysitter.
Mom got him all dressed for bed, helped him brush his teeth,
read a story and get a drink of water. Then she told him it
was time to tee-tee. Andrew said no.
"Ok," she replied, "would you like a drink of "Reindeer
Water?"
Well, this threw him a curve ball he wasn't expecting. "Ok"
Andrew said cautiously.
Mom took him to the kitchen, got one of the "Santa Claus"
mugs from the cupboard, filled it with water and calmly
handed it to him. This was fun. So he drank it down.
As he finished, Mom put a look of absolute panic on her
face. "Oh, Andrew, I forgot to tell you. That Reindeer Water
runs right through you!" And with that, she picked him up
and ran to the bathroom and pulled his pajamas pants down.
WAM! There he stood, going pottie, and having no idea what
had just happened. Just like she wanted.
Andrew turned his head just slightly and looked up at her
and scowled. Even as a toddler, his expression clearly said,
"I've been had, haven't I?" She smiled sweetly and helped
him button up and off to bed he went.
Andrew was learning what my so many of us had learned years
before - he was way out of his league. She'd outsmarted
hundreds of kids in her time and he was simply no match.
Once again, she had proved a favorite saying of hers,
"there's more than one way to skin a cat!"

4. Reader Betty - "I forget!"
===============================
Hi Lillian,
I've just started reading your pages and I dearly love them.
Thanks, friend, for sharing your mom. Here's my story and
you're welcome to use it and my name. If it will help
anyone, you can't imagine how blessed I would feel.
When I was nine I was adopted. Seven years in an orphanage
led to the blessings in my life today, so I'll never regret
a second spent there. I had such a wonderful childhood after
I was adopted. It wasn't until then that I heard the words,
"I love you" for the first time.
My parents had been married for some time and were unable to
have kids or so it seemed. Just about 2 months after they
adopted me, Mom became pregnant. They had a son who became
the apple of his big sis' eye.
When I had been with Mom for about a year, we saw a woman
Mom hadn't seen in awhile. The woman asked Mom, "Which one
is adopted?" Mom looked at both my brother and me and smiled
and said, "I FORGET!" I am so blessed by our Savior to have
been placed with this beautiful man and woman.
Well my friend, have a blessed day and know that you are in
my heart and in my prayers. Thanks for putting out the web
page and know that so many lives will be touched by your
hard work.
God bless you,
Betty

5. What's your story?
===============================
One of the most valuable resources that we have in this
world is each other. I'm hopeful that stories and lessons my
mother taught me will be a blessing to you. Perhaps you have
a lesson your mother taught you or a story that lifts you up
and would be of help to someone else.
Maybe you learned to deal with the loss of your mother or
have a tip to help mothers survive their teenagers. Maybe
you have a story that's just plain funny. Whatever it is, I
would be delighted if you'd send it to me for sharing here
in this ezine. Include your name, city and state and tell me
whether you want us to publish your full name, or just
initials, or your location only.
Just send your story by email to stories@thelillypond.com
